When Green NCAP has evaluated a minimum of three vehicles in a specific category in the preceding year, it will publish a catalogue of those vehicles that achieved the highest performance in their respective categories. The categories are defined by different vehicle body types and propulsion powertrain variants. In order to ensure that all vehicles are evaluated using the same criteria, the Category Winner comparison is conducted exclusively within each calendar year, as the criteria for each star rating progressively become more stringent.

To define the Category Winner, a calculation is made of the average value of a vehicle’s score in each of the three indices. Equal in significance, each of the three indices accounts for one-third of the average score. The Average Score is given in percentage and is used as the basis for comparison of the vehicles, where the vehicle with the highest Average Score is the Category Winner.

On this page you will find the top performer in each category. Additionally, Green NCAP is providing an award for the best performance of the pure electric and conventional cars it has tested.
